The Roadmap Review is your monthly update on the work we’re doing to make your MonkeyPod awesome. But this isn’t just a one-way street. We know our users are a passionate bunch, so if you’ve got a kickass feature idea, or if something we already do just isn’t working the way it should, we want to hear about it. Send us your thoughts at support@monkeypod.io. I can’t promise we’ll turn every idea into reality, but I do promise that if you take the time to write, we’ll take the time to read and respond.

In this month’s review, we have updates to our Stripe integration, some important tax-time reminders, and more.

Stripe Integration Enhancements

One of our favorite integrations here at MonkeyPod is our Stripe integration. It’s a powerful tool, and makes it easy to accept donations, auto-record credit card sales, and more.

But there’s always room for improvement, and this month, we did just that. Now, you can see a list of all your Stripe sales right from MonkeyPod. And if for some reason the transaction is missing in MonkeyPod, you can record it in just a couple clicks.

On top of that, we’ve made improvements to automated Stripe bookkeeping. When you’re setting up automatic bookkeeping in MonkeyPod, you need to map each Stripe product or coupon to an item or discount in MonkeyPod. If a sale happens that includes items or coupons that aren’t mapped to MonkeyPod equivalents, then we don’t have enough information to record the transaction for you.

Until now, if a sale wasn’t auto-recorded due to incomplete mapping, it could slip through the cracks unless or until someone noticed and manually recorded it.

Nerve-wracking, right? Well fear not. Now, we’ll notify you in the event a sale can’t be recorded in MonkeyPod, give you a chance to rectify the issue and get your books back on track.

Update Your Rebilling Preferences

Regular monthly  donors are the lifeblood of many nonprofits. Unfortunately, small things can get in the way of those donors continuing to support your organization, like billing addresses changing or credit cards expiring.

When something like that happens, MonkeyPod automatically attempts to rebill the card. But now, we’re putting you in the driver’s seat to determine how you want that rebilling to happen. You can now determine how many times you’ll attempt to rebill someone when a transaction fails, whether that’s for a donation, a membership, or anything else you might offer.

At MonkeyPod, we want to give you the tools to slice and dice your data however you see fit. Want to see all the lapsed donors you have with red hair? Or maybe volunteers born in February? As long as you’re capturing hair color and birthdays in your CRM, you can do that.

But what about searching by geography? The advanced search tool has always allowed you to search based on proximity to a specific address. Often that’s an ideal approach, such as when you’re looking for people who can reasonably be invited to attend an event at a certain location.

But that’s not always what you need. For example, what if you’re trying to figure out how many constituents you have in a certain electoral district? Zip codes are the best tool we have for scenarios like that, and the advanced relationship now provides that as an additional option for geographic filtering.

New Report: Year End Giving Summary

Welcome to 2025! For nonprofits across the country, each new year brings up the annual task of sending letters to your donors telling them how much they gave during the prior year. Donors value this information for lots of reasons, not least that they can pass it on to their accountants when it’s time to calculate their deductions.

This annual housekeeping has just gotten a lot easier, thanks to the new Year-End Giving Summary report. This report is different from most other MonkeyPod fundraising reports, because (1) it’s based on the calendar year rather than your fiscal year, and (2) it only considers actual gifts – not pledges, soft credits, or householding. In other words, it’s designed to help you give your donors exactly the information they need.

You can find the Year-End Giving Summary and much much more by opening the reports menu in your MonkeyPod.

Reminder: Tax season is approaching!

Speaking of tax season reports… If you work with any contractors or vendors, you’ll need to provide their 1099-NEC soon. That’s easy to do in MonkeyPod.
